Secret Recipes was established in June 2003, but this was not the true beginning. As with any restaurant/ catering business it began with a love of food and a desire to offer an exceptional experience.
Dave Linn earned his culinary degree from Johnson and Wales in Providence Rhode Island, ranked second in the nation, in 1983. In 1990, with only 7 years experience, he was offered the Executive Chef position at Beaver Valley Country Club due to the skills, knowledge and work ethic he learned working under 2 exceptional Country Club Chefs. This business thrived and allowed Dave to hone his cooking skills with his specialty being soups and sauces. Country Clubs are known for their amazing banquet events and Beaver Valley was no exception. Each menu was custom designed and thoroughly taste tested to exceed expectations. In 2001, Dave was offered the opportunity to work at the Executive Mansion for the Governor. This allowed Dave’s creativity to thrive with the opportunity to create elegant menus for the State Representatives ranging from Cocktail Parties to Formal Banquets. At times he was required to create an elaborate dining experience in minimal time. Dave used this to challenge himself to create wonderful items using only the foods on hand and his extensive knowledge and expertise.
Travis Schutte came to the Culinary world with a business background and a love of great food. When the opportunity to partner with Dave and open a restaurant/ catering company was offered, he eagerly accepted the challenge. With a limited culinary background, he has honed his skills in the kitchen under Dave’s instruction and his natural ability to bring a concept in his mind to the plate. He excels in listening to the clients and turning their ideas into reality with each meeting challenging him to create a unique event. He prides himself on turning dreams into reality. This is where our motto began.
